Colonoscopy Cost & Insurance Coverage

The cost to you for the colonoscopy will depend upon your insurance coverage. As a rule, for patients with HMO insurance, your cost will include only your co-payment. For patients with PPO insurance, your cost could vary widely depending upon the type of PPO insurance plan. You should fully understand what costs your insurance plan will cover and what costs are your responsibility. Please contact your insurance carrier and inquire about the coverage that will be provided for all of the services for your colonoscopy.

For individuals that do not have health insurance or coverage for a colonoscopy on their health plan, the Colonoscopy Center for Excellence will work with you to craft an affordable payment method. We do not want financial hardship to stop anyone from receiving proper medical care. If you find yourself facing financial difficulties, please call our office and speak to our practice manager to discuss your options.

Our Colonoscopy Cost Advantage

The Colonoscopy Center for Excellence offers several cost advantages including:

  • Lower total costs. Our colonoscopy costs 46% less on average when compared to hospital prices for the same exact procedure.
  • Open Access Colonoscopy Service: If you do not have any gastrointestinal symptoms you can skip the pre-colonoscopy doctor’s visit and schedule your colonoscopy screening right away with our Open Access Colonoscopy service. This saves you from paying additional medical fees and co-pays by forgoing the extra doctor’s appointment.

You will receive a minimum of three bills (the first three listed below) and possibly up to five bills depending upon findings at colonoscopy.  These bills include:

  1. Colonoscopy Center’s facility fee.
  2. The Gastroenterologist’s fee.
  3. The Anesthesiologist’s fee.
  4. The Pathology fee.  This depends on the number of polyps removed or biopsies taken.  If no polyps are removed or biopsies are taken, there will be no Pathology fee.
  5. Clinical Laboratory fee if your physician took stool samples (e.g. if you suffer from diarrhea).

Colonoscopy Payment Options

If you do not have insurance, we are pleased to inform you that we offer discounted rates for our services.  Our rates are as follow:

  • Colonoscopy Center’s facility fee: Colonoscopy $1,492.  Colonoscopy with biopsy and/or polyp (one or more) removal $1,620
  • Gastroenterologist fee: $500
  • Anesthesiologist fee: $240
  • Pathology fee: this depends on the number of polyps removed.  You will receive a separate bill from the Pathology Department at California Pacific Medical Center.  If no polyps are removed, there will be no Pathology fee.
  • Clinical Laboratory fee:  this will only apply if your physician took stool samples (e.g. if you suffer from diarrhea).
